Who Is Waxing For?

  • Yes! It is perfectly safe to get waxed while pregnant, even up until birth. Aftercare may look slightly different since chemical exfoliation is limited, but waxing itself is safe throughout pregnancy.

  • No. You must be off Accutane for at least one year before receiving waxing services, as it significantly increases skin sensitivity and risk of injury.

  • Yes, it's completely fine! Just wear a tampon, cup, or disc to your appointment. Keep in mind you may be more sensitive during this time, so taking Tylenol 30 minutes before can help take the edge off.

  • Absolutely! We offer waxing services to all genders. When booking Brazilian services, please select the option that corresponds to your anatomy so we can allow the proper time and care for your appointment.

  • Most people with sensitive skin do great with waxing! We use professional grade wax formulated for comfort and minimal irritation. Let us know about any skin sensitivities when you book so we can make note of it before your appointment.

  • No. Please wait until your skin has fully healed before coming in. Waxing over sunburned skin can cause serious irritation and damage. As a general rule, avoid tanning or prolonged sun exposure on the area you plan to wax for at least 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.

  • We have plenty of clients with these conditions and they do great! We just ask that the area is not in an extreme flare up at the time of your appointment. If the area you'd like waxed is significantly inflamed or irritated, please wait until it calms down before coming in. When in doubt, send us a message and we're happy to help you figure out the best plan!

Pain, Results & Timing

  • Everyone's pain tolerance is different, and there's no sugarcoating it, waxing can be uncomfortable, especially the first time. The good news? It gets easier. With regular appointments, hair grows back thinner and more sparse over time, and each visit tends to be smoother than the last. Taking Tylenol 30 minutes beforehand can also help if you're nervous about discomfort.

  • Most clients stay hair-free for about 2 weeks before regrowth starts to appear. Your next appointment is typically recommended between 3 and 6 weeks, depending on your personal hair growth cycle. Consistency is key for the best long-term results!

  • Hard wax is applied warm, allowed to harden on its own, and then removed without a strip. Soft wax is applied in a thin layer and removed immediately using a cloth strip. Both are professional grade and effective. We choose which wax is best for each area and each client based on hair type, skin integrity, and what will give you the smoothest result. A lot of our services, including Brazilians and full body waxing, incorporate soft wax, and our clients do amazing with it! It is all in the prep and technique which we ensure to to do well.

  • No need to trim! Hair should be at least the length of a grain of rice, which is usually about 3 to 4 weeks of growth. Longer hair actually allows for a smoother, more effective wax. If you've been shaving, give it a full 3 to 4 weeks before your first appointment.

  • Nope, that's a myth! Unlike shaving, which cuts the hair bluntly at the surface, waxing removes hair from the root. Over time, consistent waxing actually causes hair to grow back finer, softer, and sparser.

  • It's often the most uncomfortable, yes, but it's also the most unpredictable because we don't know yet how your hair and skin respond. Every appointment after that tends to be easier, especially once your hair is on a consistent growth cycle.

Prep, Aftercare & What to Expect

  • About 24 hours before your appointment, exfoliate the area with an exfoliating mitt or scrub using gentle circular motions. This removes dead skin buildup and helps prevent ingrown hairs. For facial waxing, stop using retinoids and acids at least 72 hours before your appointment, and double check your cleansers, lotions, and body washes since those ingredients are often hiding in everyday products. We carry exfoliators in studio including the LUV Scrub African Mesh Body Exfoliator and Just the Strip Scrub if you need a recommendation.

  • Loose, breathable clothing is your best friend. Think cotton underwear, flowy pants, a dress, or a romper. Avoid tight leggings or synthetic fabrics right after your wax since they can cause friction and irritation on freshly waxed skin.

  • For the first 24 hours, skip tight clothing, sun exposure, exercise, swimming, saunas, hot showers, and sexual activity. After 48 hours, start exfoliating 2 to 3 times per week and moisturize daily to keep skin smooth and prevent ingrowns. We carry professional aftercare products in studio including exfoliators, ingrown serums, and nourishing oils, and we're happy to help you put together a routine that works for your skin.

  • Exfoliation and hydration are your two best tools. Starting 48 hours after your wax, exfoliate 2 to 3 times per week using both physical exfoliation (like an exfoliating mitt) and chemical exfoliation (like a gentle AHA or BHA) on alternating days. Keeping skin moisturized with a lightweight oil also helps hair grow back cleanly without getting trapped under the skin. If ingrowns are a recurring problem for you, ask us about our ingrown serums!

  • We strongly recommend against it. Shaving between appointments resets your hair growth cycle, which means your hair won't all be at the same stage when you come back in. This makes for a less effective wax and more discomfort. Commit to the schedule and your skin will thank you!

  • Avoid heavily fragranced lotions, and products with heavy residue like coconut oil right after your wax. Stick to lightweight, products provided by us for at least 24 to 48 hours.
